About the Gifted Music School

The Gifted Music School inspires and enriches the lives of people of all ages and all skill levels with its world-class music education. Founded in 2008 by Eugene and Vera Watanabe, the Gifted Music School is a 501(c)3 non-profit music school located in Salt Lake City. Staffed by a world-class faculty, the school is committed to helping students unlock their musical potential. 

The Gifted Music School offers a wide variety of music lessons and classes from beginners to conservatory bound students, professional students, and adults.

GMS Conservatory

The Gifted Music School Conservatory is a full scholarship division for serious and committed music students (ages 6-19). A top level musical training program, it includes theory, ear training, performance classes, chamber music, and orchestral training. Admittance by audition only.  Students from this program have continued their education at Curtis, Juilliard, Colburn, New England Conservatory, San Francisco, Champagne Urbana, Stanford, and all major Utah colleges.

GMS Young Artists

The Young Artists program is an accelerated program within the Preparatory division for students who are aspiring to join the Conservatory or for students who want to move beyond the standard Preparatory division music education. Call to schedule an audition.

GMS Preparatory

The GMS Preparatory division is open to the community and available for ALL skill levels, from age 1-100 (and beyond). Lessons and classes are offered by the renown Gifted Music School faculty. Top level instruction offered for piano, violin, viola, cello, guitar, flute, bassoon, clarinet, ukulele, music theory, vocal, and chamber music.

GMS Suzuki Program

Utah's first official Suzuki Strings enrolling children ages 2-18.  All lessons taught by dedicated, degreed and Suzuki certified teachers.  We strive to be a supportive institution and resource to our entire Suzuki community at large. Fully dedicated to realizing the life-changing vision of Dr. Shinichi Suzuki's pedagogical vision, the GMS Suzuki Program is the home of the Deborah Moench Teacher Training Program, dedicated to continued Suzuki teacher training for all instructors in our community and the pursuit of the fulfillment of Suzuki's methodology.
